In May, the family and I went out to Hephzibah Farms in Hebron, IL. We were greeted by a cute gray cat that jumped right into our van when the door opened. I knew right then that we were in for some friendly animals. It wasn’t long before the tour guide joined us. She was a really sweet girl and even though we were a bit early she was ready so we started the tour. We started in the chicken coup. This is a small structure connected to another with mostly chicks but also a duck and a couple ducklings.

The guide went through a door and came back with what she called their “head chicken” I believe. It lived up to it’s name. My son is such a good sport. There were no other volunteers.
The barn
After this we went out and walked into the nearby barn. There was a variety of animals including different birds wandering in and out. They all seemed to be comfortable around people and doing their own thing.
The kids really enjoyed the baby bunnies. They were so sweet. I was really surprised my youngest held one because he’s passed every previous opportunity to hold a bunny. This was a first for him.
All that being right inside the door of the barn, we walked through a gate further inside where they had stables for larger animals. We were able to feed and pet them. They brought goats into the area we were standing in the middle of the stables.
We absolutely wish it hadn’t been raining so hard so we could have seen the animals outside the barn. Overall it was a fun place to go and we’re hoping to make a trip back next year. I definitely recommend taking a tour.
