Hi! I’m Casi, a photographer located in Ingleside, IL. I photograph babies and families. In every session I strive to capture families as they are in a combination of posed and candid/lifestyle pictures. Newborn portraits are available in studio. The studio is in Ingleside, Illinois on IL 134, near Wilson. Photo sessions listed on this page are for individual families. Newborn portraits can be baby only, but they do include 2 parents and siblings.
Newborn posing is best under 2 weeks old…
For newborn portraits, book a date a week after the expected due date, and we’ll adjust if baby arrives early based on availability, typically weekday mornings around 10-11 AM start time, as newborns do best in the morning. Some newborns are very fussy in the evening.
A Newborn session may be booked for slightly older babies but most newborn poses become more difficult to achieve after 2-3 weeks. Babies around 2-3 weeks start to become more alert and are less likely to want to be swaddled or stay asleep for posing, but some are still sleepy enough. It depends on baby.
Older babies may have more relaxed posing, like laying on their backs in props, they may be alert, moving arms/legs, and need to be wrapped. If baby cannot be wrapped we will need to book the longer session or lay them naturally on their back in props. We will need a sound, sleeping, or very calm baby to attempt any newborn posing.
If you’ve missed this age range entirely, and baby is in that 1-2 month age range, no worries, we can still book you for one of these sessions utilizing the larger props and wraps baby may still fit, and have baby laying on their back. Once baby is closer to 3 months, holding up their head, and can be propped up in baskets and crates for a few minutes at a time, you’re ready to book a milestone session. You may also book a milestone session for any baby over one month, where again, they would mainly be laying down on their back in props or on fabric until they can support their head safely.

If you’re looking to document your newest family member in a more efficient way, this is for you. In this session we’ll plan for about 30 minutes on each. We’ll start with the family backdrop, and then move baby to their own setup. Alternatively, we can do 2 setups for baby if we’re not including the family (parents or siblings). Portraits included are a variety of full body, close-ups, and details if possible. I do have at least one additional baby only setup ready in case baby is settled, and we have time to get to them. All setups are selected in advance and ready prior to your arrival.
Swaddled Newborn – $595
1-2 hours – in studio
1 family backdrop – 2-3 newborn setups
Wrapped (outfits if settled) in props

Generally, we’ll begin with the family and sibling portraits, if they will be photographed. This way sibling arrangements can be made if needed, while we’re photographing the newborn alone. Then we’ll move into setups for baby. There are 2-3 newborn setups included, though I do have at least one additional setup prepared for baby, if we have time. This is called the swaddled newborn session because more swaddling is typically done. Newborns are not guaranteed to sleep during the session, and it’s not unusual to have a newborn awake the entire 2 hours. Some newborn poses, outside of a swaddle or laying flat, must be done with baby sleeping for their safety. So, if baby is awake, we move to swaddling. Once swaddled, baby typically settles and can be moved between props fairly quickly for more variety. All setups are selected in advance and ready prior to your arrival.

This is called the posed newborn session because there is a little more time to get baby settled into poses. Newborns are not guaranteed to sleep during the session, and some poses require a sleeping newborn. If baby is awake and unsettled we may move to swaddling in the last hour or so of the session to be sure we are able to get baby into the included setups. Babies may need to eat or have a diaper change, and it can take a while to get them settled again.

dIY in-home newborn portrait appointment – you take the pictures!
$150 – First hour and 2 setups with one newborn
$50 – Each additional 30 minutes and one setup
Best age for appointment is around 1 week old
I set up the prop, pose or wrap baby, and spot them. You photograph it with your device. I will offer guidance throughout for angles and positioning.
For each 30 minute increment booked (minimum of 1 hour), I will bring one prop of your choice from my studio and coordinating layers, outfit/wrap, and hat/headband. I will pose or wrap baby and set them up in the space you’ve selected in your home that is cleared, and is next to a large door or window with natural light. This must be during bright daytime hours. A contract and $50 non-refundable retainer are due to book the appointment, and the balance is due in full one week prior to your appointment, to keep the appointment. The full amount may be paid in full when booking, you will have that option in your e-mailed invoice. Your images will be on your device to do with as you’d like.
NO IMAGES ARE INCLUDED IN THIS SESSION FROM CASI ANN PHOTOGRAPHY. THIS IS NOT AN EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOP. YOU MUST HAVE YOUR OWN CAMERA OR PHONE THAT YOU CAN USE WITHOUT ASSISTANCE. I WILL POSE AND SPOT BABY WHILE YOU PHOTOGRAPH THEM.
This is the only appointment I offer that a client may use their phone to capture images. Due to the digital nature of photography and the extensive amount of editing provided in regular sessions, the two types of sessions may not be combined (a regular session where I photograph and this DIY session where the client photographs). This DIY option is also only provided for newborns as a safe alternative for parents to capture this time with the help of someone more experienced in posing and wrapping. This is not currently available for any other type of session.
