Quick announcement!

My work schedule has changed for the summer and that means I have some time to fill up. That being said I am offering ridiculously discounted mini sessions on available days. Those days are currently most Monday & Tuesday evenings and Friday mornings. I will also have 1-2 Friday evenings and Sundays a month. Specific dates will be added below and locations will follow. If your little one needs extra time to warm up, feel free to book a couple of mini sessions back to back. These minis are for individual families (up to 2 parents and immediate children). We can do maternity, senior, or milestone as well. Please note the focus in the inquiry form. No solo newborn posing will be done though they may be held naturally, and I may have a prop to lay them naturally in. If your baby cannot sit and support themselves and you want individual images of them, I will have a couple of small props with me for non-sitters. Pets are welcome based on the rules of the location we are at. If pets are permitted at the park, this may also be used as a session for them. If you have any questions, ask. As of right now I’m planning to do this through mid August, but it depends on my work schedule. When school is back in session and the days get darker earlier, my availability will become very limited again.

I will continue updating dates and locations now through August and re-evaluate as my regular work schedule resumes.

Mini Session Q&A

Each mini session will specify a date. Availability is limited. Book in advance. Most themes/locations may be booked for custom sessions at regular pricing if you miss one you like. For mini sessions, you will book a specific time slot. Sessions end at the designated time (regardless of arrival time) to respect the sessions of other families after, and to get us all out of the park before the gates lock. I schedule the last session to end about 10-15 minutes prior to park closing time. I recommend arriving early to be ready, but keeping a distance from any family currently being photographed until your time starts. I will be visible from the parking lot at the start of your session or you will be given detailed directions to find me.

Each mini session theme will have an explanation of age, size, or number of people. I do not photograph extended families, groups, or events unless otherwise specified. If a session is for “family” it means up to 2 parents and their immediate children. Only those listed in the contract will be photographed.

The more people trying to get children to smile, the more directions they’re looking. When someone is standing feet away from the camera getting their attention, they look and smile in that direction rather than at the camera. When more than one person is getting their attention, it gets more difficult for me to redirect their gaze at the camera. Also, some children and babies can become overstimulated with multiple people making noise at them, resulting in unhappy expressions. Many children and teens do better without an audience.

Each mini session will specify a location. If something happens to a location in advance (controlled burn, flowers mowed down, construction, etc.), clients booked will be notified of the new location and given the option of whether or not they’d like to keep the session. If this happens very last minute and it is discovered the day of, clients will be notified immediately with any options available. For years I’ve photographed sessions primarily at Lake County Forest Preserves, but I’m utilizing the mini sessions this summer to spend some time at DNR locations like Moraine Hills and Volo Bog. We’re starting with Volo Bog. The locations will most likely be repeated.

If you are already fully booked for a mini session I will personally contact you regarding any updates to that session. If you’re looking for updates on mini sessions they will be on this page with the mini session information, or on my Facebook page. Follow my Facebook page and sign up for emails for future offerings and updates.

The studio is temporarily closed. I do plan to open one again in the future but it will be at another location. You can always book a custom session in your home or on location (additional permit fees may be required for some locations).

Book multiple mini sessions. Most mini sessions may also be booked as a custom session as well which are 30 minutes, 60 minutes, and 1-2 hours.

If I call the mini sessions due to weather, you will be notified as soon as possible and we’ll reschedule you to another mini session date, if available.

If the adults/parents are not being photographed, we can do best friend or cousin portraits for babies and children. They will be added to one gallery and I’ll have one point of contact for communication (just as with an individual family session) that will handle the contract, invoice, and planning, and the other parent/s will be emailed a subcontract to sign. This applies to groups totaling about 6 children or less. No large groups. Only those listed in the contracts will be photographed. The main contact will receive the gallery and be responsible for communicating and coordinating with the others, prior to and after the session.

I specialize in babies and children. Because of that I also photograph families, teens/seniors, maternity, and even pets. I do not photograph boudoir, event, wedding, or anything not directly related to what I shared above. Given that I work mostly with babies and children, that is drastically different than something like posing high fashion. It’s always best to book with someone that specializes in what you’re looking for and has a passion and eye for it. If you’re unsure, reach out. I do my best work when I have time to prepare.

If they’re available, you sure can. It would work out to be roughly the amount of time of the mini sessions added together, as well as the picture amounts. It would need to take place at the designated mini session location. I have not blacked out these dates from regular session booking. Custom sessions at regular pricing may still be booked on these dates as long as no mini sessions have been booked on that date.
