I love being Fresh 48 photographer. Getting to do the first photography session for a baby after their birth is so special. Baby is new, family is swooning, and everything is just as it is.

Baby I is the 3rd baby in her family with 1 older sister and 1 older brother. It was a busy little hospital room when I arrived and didn’t slow down much. Such is life with 3 kids. Having 3 myself, I know what embracing the chaos is all about. I’m so glad I was invited to capture some of these moments for this family. I’ve captured a lot of pictures for them but my favorites are the milestones, including the arrival of their babies. I was not there to document the Fresh 48 Session for their 1st baby. I started documenting this family just before her first birthday and was there after the birth of her 2nd and 3rd babies.

This hospital has a special place in my heart as well. I don’t typically travel this far from home but this hospital is where I had my middle child and I LOVED IT! Shout out to Rockford Memorial! The Rockford area is my old stomping grounds. This whole Lake County thing is still growing on me but I’m forever attached to Winnebago County. For Fresh 48 Sessions, I’m willing to travel a little. Those cannot always be arranged close to my studio.

This family is special too! I went to high school with A (the mom)! We started hanging out in 9th grade after ending up in a study hall together. I never would have guessed then that over a decade and a half later I’d be documenting her family grow.

A Fresh 48 session:

It was a dark, gloomy day. Details like that carry over into lifestyle pictures. I love that because it helps capture a feeling that stays with the pictures.

Booking information for maternity, Fresh 48, and newborn sessions:

It’s best to book your maternity photography session for around 32-36 weeks. If you plan to have a newborn session, the end of the 2nd trimester is a good time to get that on my calendar. Book your newborn session for about a week after the due date and we’ll adjust the session date after birth if needed. If the hospital you’re delivering at allows photographers in, definitely check in with me for availability for Fresh 48 pictures while in the hospital. These are such a great keepsake.
