Cake smash photographer: A family session and first birthday/cake smash, with a side of lemon. Ingleside, Illinois.

I’m hopping on this morning to share some beautiful images of L’s Birthday Cake Smash Session. L and her family are new to me and it was so nice to meet them. I am not just a cake smash photographer, I am a family photographer. I want families to have their family portraits done at each session.

We started at a forest preserve about 7 minutes away from the studio and captured the family together. Our planned location was too windy, so we had to take it to the trails. They are a gorgeous family. Oh, my word. They were dressed so cute too. The main event was little L but that doesn’t mean everyone else has to be left out. They booked a family session to end with a cake smash. We got big sister O in there, and mom and dad. They did great. It started overcast but just as we were finishing up the sun came out, so we took full advantage with a family picture.

Back at the studio we had to go with the theme on the precious little romper mom brought for L, so we set up the lemons. And dad in that pink, I didn’t ask but I can only guess they were going for pink lemonade. It’s awesome regardless. What fun outfit choices!

We finished with the cake smash and cleanup. Those two things are exactly how they sound and there is a bathroom right in the studio for cleanup. We expect cake mess. After L smashed her cake up and threw it off of the cake stand twice like a champ, we were done. I love documenting this milestone!
