What is a Fresh 48 Session?
A Fresh 48 session is a session to capture moments in those first couple of days of a child’s life. These take place in the hospital, birthing center or home. You’ll want to check with the hospital to make sure this is permitted. We’ll schedule your session on your due date to get you into the calendar, and then you’ll keep me updated as we get closer. You’ll let me know of any induction dates or signs of labor, and then after baby is born. We’ll pick the best available time within the first few days of baby’s life for me to come and capture everything happening. Typical hospital stays are 24-48 hours. I will let you know if there are any blackout dates around your due date that I am not available, so that you can keep that in mind. I know I’ve had some mamas completely blank until the last minute with all of the commotion and a newborn. It happens. If you decide not to go through with the session, or availability doesn’t line up, we can cancel or move your retainer to a different type of session. There’s lifestyle and newborn as well. Lifestyle (un-posed) can take place any time in your home. A swaddled or posed newborn session is best around 1 week old. Just keep me updated. This is a part of life where not a whole lot is within our control. We’re just going with it.Â
Maternity, Fresh 48, and Newborn booking information:
It’s best to book your maternity photography session for around 32-36 weeks. If you plan to have a newborn session, the end of the 2nd trimester is a good time to get that on my calendar. Book your newborn session for about a week after the due date and we’ll adjust the session date after birth if needed. If the hospital you’re delivering at allows photographers in, definitely check in with me for availability for Fresh 48 pictures while in the hospital. These are such a great keepsake.
