The topic of discussion for today is none other than the “A” Family siblings, a super fun clan. They came in for Valentine’s photo shoot from just outside the Rockford, Illinois area, in Machesney park. The studio is in Ingleside so that’s quite a drive. If faces look familiar to you, it’s because I’ve photographed this family before. For about 5 years, actually.

It was so exciting when I got them all back in the studio again for their sibling session. I remember when I booked their daughter “L’s” one year “lemonade” session. I was happy to know that they enjoyed the sessions as much as I enjoyed them! Since then they’ve added 2 more to the group and I’ve been to the hospital after the births of “M” and “I”. I was honored to be able to meet them so soon!

From oldest to youngest, we have bigger sister “L”, brother “M”, and baby girl “I”.

The Valentine’s photo shoot:

“L” is an independent girl who loves to pose. I can’t wait to work with her in the future. “M” has quite the personality and kept us all on our toes but we got some smiles! He’s a cute active little guy and loves his baby sister. Baby “I” was a beautiful little thing and such a trooper. She loves her mommy and apparently daddy really knows how to make her smile.

As expected, Mom and Dad did a wonderful job preparing them for our session. Their outfits worked perfectly with the heart theme and I love when babies bring in their blankets that have been handmade for them. It really puts a personal touch in their images that I’m sure they’ll treasure forever.

Because my last (First 48) session with the “A”‘s went so well, I knew it wouldn’t be any different this time around. And I was right! Here is the “A” sibling’s Valentine Session, check it out for yourself:

You NEED to book a sibling session if you have more than one child.

Individual and milestone pictures are so important but what we do in a sibling session is different. We make sure that even if I have to composite 5 images together, you will have at least 1 image of your children together. We make it happen if at all possible. The remainder of the images in your package are your individual child portraits, or with somewhat picture loving children maybe even more of them together. See, the reality is this didn’t happen:

Miss “L” was as she appeared because she’s so unusually great at pictures, and little “I” just needed some bent legs from another portrait because she was actually stretching when she looked over. Little Mr “M” though, he had his own plans and was everywhere but where we wanted him except for 2 second stints of time. THAT IS TOTALLY NORMAL. I find that boys especially have less interest in the sessions and the 2-4 age range can be completely exhausting. Let’s be real though, there’s so much to do at that age so we’re asking a lot of them to sit still for more than a few minutes. They’re busy people! Just know that even if they don’t cooperate for very long, we may be able to pull it off. Don’t be scared to book a session because of a rambunctious little one. It won’t slow down until they’re grown and then it’s too late to capture them together all cute and small!
